2008 London Marathon
-
Martin Roper - Head of English - Ran the 2008 London Marathon on behalf oft the Ashlyns School Association charity.
His time was 4 hours 42 minutes.
It was his seventh successive London Marathon: the previous six were all for the schools founding institution, Coram Family.
Martin reports, "Every year, my time has always slightly declined, but equally the event has taken less and less out of me as I prepare and run with experience and sensible conservation of energy. Unusually, I feel stronger and stronger as the marathon gets towards its later stages, whereas for most people the opposite is true: this is the advantage of taking it more steadily ...
I love the training on winter and early spring weekend mornings - having the chance of solitude whilst running a variety of countryside routes, along minor roads and through woods and fields ... it is a therapeutic experience."
Approximately £1000 was raised and there is still time to add your donation, simply email us or hand in your donation at the school office in an envelope addressed to the, 'ASA marathon donation' on the front.
